Currently we don't have any vacancies for a Plant Operator position but you are more than welcome to apply as an expression of interest. That will enable us to have your CV on file when a position does become available.
The role:
Our business involves dry blending powders and nutrients into infant formula and then putting it in a can. Sounds simple enough, right? But in fact, it is a complex process that requires you to:
- Work closely with other team members. So, you need to be able to “fit in” and get on with other people. And, enjoy the richness brought to the workplace via a very diverse team. (We currently have representation from 15 different nationalities).
- Be able to communicate easily. You need to be able to express yourself well and confidently but also be a good listener, especially when leaders / supervisors are explaining things to you.
- We are process-driven, so there is a lot to learn and that will require you to have very good English reading and comprehension skills. There are SOPs and Quality Procedures for everything we do. So, you will need to read and understand them and then compete a small quiz to confirm that understanding. Then, and most importantly, you must follow those procedures to the letter of the law – every time and without exception.
- We have very strict hygiene standards, so your own personal hygiene needs to be to a high standard too. You will be required to wear PPE including as a minimum - a lab coat, safety boots, hairnet, gloves and hearing protection.
- We regularly break the plant down into its component pieces so that we can clean and sanitise it. Then we put it all back together again under strict hygiene conditions. This usually takes a full shift. It requires discipline, care and attention to detail, so that the formula we make is 100% safe for babies to eat. (There’s usually good sounds playing while this job is being completed).
And, like every other employer on the planet we need you to:
- be reliable and turn up to work your shifts;
- work hard and be conscientious;
- always do your very best and take pride in everything you do.
Currently we are running the plant Monday – Friday, from 4.00am to 11.00pm at night.
We run two shifts on a weekly, rotational basis and you need to be available to work both.
The morning shift will have you starting between 4:00am - 5:00am and finishing between 1:15pm - 2:15pm.
The following week you will work the afternoon shift, starting between 12:45pm - 1:45pm and finishing between 10:00pm -11:00pm.
Shifts are 9.25 hours long.
Some other things that you might find helpful to know:
You will undergo a pre-employment medical and you will also need to complete drug and alcohol testing before starting and then randomly as selected.
Some roles require you to lift 25kg bags of dry powder, so you need to be fit.
The plant is temperature and humidity controlled and very light, bright and clean.
We have an expectation that if you are selected to join our team then you will stay with us for a minimum of two years.
